HOW IMPORTANT IS A GEAS?
Due to the fact that many universities do not offer subjects focused on this topic, these groups assist in the academic training of professionals. Its main objective is the dissemination of knowledge through the organization of theoretical and practical classes, study circles, symposiums, meetings, round tables, among other activities. The mission is to increasingly involve undergraduate students in this topic by debating it within faculties.
Since Brazil is the country with the greatest biodiversity in the world, having professionals with scientific knowledge in the areas of biology, management, environmental education, veterinary medicine, preservation and conservation is of utmost importance for maintaining this biodiversity.
GEAS develops environmental education activities, raising awareness about the importance of these animals in the ecosystem, demystifying some superstitions, valuing students interested in wildlife and promoting the exchange and updating of information. Furthermore, there are GEAS that work exclusively with education, both for students, professionals and the population, in favor of the appreciation and importance of our ecosystems.
