ABOUT

Arara azul

Students from the country with an interest in the area of wild animals came together with the aim of building a central representation for all comprehensive study groups, creating on November 5, 2005, GEAS Brasil. The following year, the first meeting with representatives of the Study Groups was held during the IX Meeting and III Congress of ABRAVAS. Despite the official formalization, due to the high turnover of students and large geographical distances between the groups, the initiative remained active through email groups.

Six years after its creation, in 2011, during the 20th Meeting and 14th Congress of ABRAVAS (Campinas, SP), the 1st GEAS Meeting (EGEAS) was held, with the participation of students from the five Brazilian regions and different professionals in the field. , where guidelines and strategic planning were defined, aiming to implement and formalize the group at a national level. To this end, a mission, vision, values, objectives, work methodology, products for dissemination, frequency of online meetings and the implementation of the co-founding board of the Brazilian Wild Animal Studies Group were developed, being the first official meeting of the management carried out during Congress, on October 7 of that year.
